Dr. Marand has thirty-five years teaching and administrative experience in the American school systems. She has been a teacher, professor, consultant, instructional facilitator, international trainer, and school administrator. She has taught students from elementary to university level with effective teaching practices in Illinois, Texas and Oklahoma. For five years, Dr. Marand was an instructional facilitator in the elementary schools providing professional training to teachers on topics of higher order thinking skills, literacy strategies, cooperative learning and portfolio assessment. As an instructional facilitator, her schools were recognized by the state of Texas for making significant gains. She has obtained expertise in Advanced Academics for higher learning as a consultant for the College Board for five years. She was an Advanced Placement (AP) Spanish Language teacher in the state of Oklahoma. She has trained numerous teachers in several districts on effective language strategies for obtaining high scores on the AP Spanish assessment and state criterion-referenced tests. At the university level, she taught bilingual reading strategies, integrated curriculum, foundations for multicultural education and early childhood courses to undergraduate students at the University of Texas and Western Illinois University. As a professor, Dr. Rios Marand obtained expertise as an international presenter to teachers in Mexico on the topic of portfolio assessment. Recently, as an administrator in the state of Oklahoma, she obtained expertise on effective schooling, professional learning communities (PLC), instructional leadership, teacher supervision, and team building. She was an administrator for fourteen years and has impacted students’ educational achievement with effective strategies in curriculum mapping and educational programs.
